I needed to quickly create a half dozen wooden floater frames to accommodate a number of small panel paintings for display at The Green Room here in Lafayette. These were initially intended as part of two larger triptychs set into a couple of salvaged wooden door and window frames that I picked up in Central TX. I was never quite satisfied with them in that setting and ultimately abandoned the idea. I’ll repurpose those old peeling house frames for a new project down the line. If you find yourself in downtown Lafayette during the yuletide season, stop in to raise a glass and check them out. A number of interesting works on display at the current time.

There is a new multipurpose arts center opening here in Lafayette on Jefferson Street downtown- The OMNI Center. The venue has both an arts market and a performance space. I was given a quick tour of the space and it is coming along nicely. I wish them luck and hope to perhaps be a part of it at some point. A nice step towards the rebirth of Jefferson Street. A super cool development.

Without Getting Killed or Caught, the biography of the late musician Guy Clark was a great read. I’ve been a fan of his for so many years. A great troubadour and a real hero to me. How I wish I could write songs on par with his! He lived a life on his own terms and created such indelible beauty in the process. The man could turn a phrase so sparsely and poetically. In addition to his songwriting chops, he was a damn fine painter. To top that off, he was a skilled luthier. I’d love to lay my hands on one of his rare handmade guitars. An inspirational fellow, sure. Yes, yes!
