A second move within the Hub City and I now have a phenomenal studio space to work in. A first for me, that. I now lack excuses and hope to produce a bounty of great work. So many ideas percolating in my noggin. The challenge is my slow work pace / technique. It’s hard to keep up! Often, by the time I finally get to an idea scribbled some months (or years) ago it no longer appeals to me. Part of the culling, I suppose. The process of weeding out. To paint a large work, one must be truly dedicated to it. I mean, you have to carry the damn thing to term despite all obstacles and may the devil take the hindmost.

I recently viewed Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me, a documentary on the late country musician. I had only a passing familiarity with him but was intrigued by his very public struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.  In a nutshell, he chose to embark on an epic ‘Goodbye Tour’ despite the advanced stage of the illness. His struggle, at times painful to witness,  he put right there on the stage for all to admire. A heartbreaking and courageous act. I was so very impressed by the Rhinestone Cowboy and his family.

At any rate, it’s off to the new studio space to smear colored grease upon canvas. What a blessing!
